K-12 Tornado Damage Recovery

After a tornado struck an entire school district in June 2023, severe water intrusion was detected across 11 buildings. Heavy storms damaged roofing systems and allowed water to infiltrate through ceilings, walls and flooring.

The Target Solutions team responded immediately, launching emergency mitigation efforts to dry out structures, remove saturated materials and assess environmental hazards. During mitigation, asbestos was found in the bleachers and mercury was discovered in the gym’s rubber flooring, requiring specialized abatement. Target coordinated closely with the  district and insurance representatives to ensure the schools were ready before the beginning of the fall semester.
